NAS Lemoore BAH rates, 2026
Source: Department of Defense BAH rate lookup, Defense Travel Management Office. Verified by Avidity Capital on 2026-07-07.
BAH is the monthly housing allowance paid to service members who do not live in government housing. The rate depends on three things: your paygrade, whether you have dependents, and the military housing area of your duty station. This page lists the rates for NAS Lemoore, military housing area CA023.
The rates
At every paygrade the with-dependents rate is higher than the without-dependents rate, and both rise with paygrade within the enlisted, warrant and officer groups.

How this is used in your plan
BAH is not subject to federal income tax and does not appear on your W-2. That is why a plan built from the W-2 alone undercounts what you actually bring home each month.
The reality-check adds BAH to your basic pay and BAS to show your real monthly compensation. That total, not your W-2, is the number your savings rate and your housing decision should start from.
You receive the full rate for your paygrade and dependency status whether your rent is above it or below it. If your housing costs less than your BAH, the difference is yours. If it costs more, the difference comes out of your basic pay.
BAH changes when you PCS, because the rate follows the duty station. A housing decision that works at NAS Lemoore may not work at the next station. The keep-your-home tool in the app prices your BAH at the station and report date you pick, so you can compare before you decide.
DoD publishes BAH through O-7. The app applies the O-7 rate to O-8 and above; those grades are not shown here because DoD does not publish a separate figure for them.
O-1E, O-2E and O-3E are the rates for officers with prior enlisted or warrant service.
Questions people ask
Is BAH taxed?

Does my BAH go down if my rent is cheaper than the rate?
No. You are paid the full rate for your paygrade and dependency status regardless of what you actually pay for housing.
What happens to my BAH when I PCS?
It changes to the rate for your new duty station's housing area. The new rate starts when you report. The keep-your-home tool in the app prices your BAH at the station and report date you pick.
How often do the rates change?
The Department of Defense publishes new rates each January. This page is rebuilt from the verified dataset when the new table is signed, and the verification line above shows the date.
